PRTG Manual: System requirements

To install PRTG Database Observer, you must meet the following requirements:

Category	Requirements
Hardware	We recommend that your system has a 4-core processor with at least 8 GB of RAM. PRTG Database Observer requires around 150 MB of disk space. However, if you also install an MS SQL Server Express instance, the application requires 3 GB of disk space.
Operating system	We recommend that you use Microsoft Windows Server 2022, Microsoft Windows Server 2019, or Microsoft Windows Server 2016.
Microsoft .NET framework	It is required that .NET 4.7.2 or later of the Microsoft .NET Framework is installed on the PRTG core server system or the remote probe system. For new installations of the PRTG core server or remote probes, we recommend .NET Framework 4.8. If the required version of this application is not present on the system when you run the installer, it will be downloaded and installed during the installation process.
SQL Server Express	It is required that MS Server Express is installed on the same system that PRTG Database Observer is installed on. The following versions are officially supported: ▪SQL Server Express 2017 ▪SQL Server Express 2019 If the required version of this application is not present on the system when you run the installer, it will be downloaded and installed during the installation process.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable	As of version 14.28.29913 If the required version of this application is not present on the system when you run the installer, it will be downloaded and installed during the installation process.
Microsoft ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server	As of version 17.5.2.1. If the required version of this application is not present on the system when you run the installer, it will be downloaded and installed during the installation process.
