PRODUCT OVERVIEW

“Since using PRTG, we have matured how we report out overall application uptime, maintenance, and mean time between failure for all critical applications to our board of directors. PRTG allows us to not just look at a single event, but to leverage historical data to prevent future failures and to measure how we are making improvements over time.”

Bill Sorrells, CTO
Dayton Children's Hospital

“We have found these sophisticated levels of monitoring to be highly effective, improving the end user’s experience of the systems and applications in use, giving us the opportunity to provide a proactive resolution rather than having the end user raise issues.”

Saif Akil, Head of Service Management
Acurus

“Before PRTG, applications and hardware all gave messages, but all separately, so we had to search through hundreds of e-mails to find the problem. It was always only afterwards that we saw that something was going on within the infrastructure. To mitigate the issue, we also considered other software. PRTG stood out because of its user-friendliness, flexibility and minimal consultancy investment.”

Wim Vandenberghe, ICT Manager
Soenen Golfkarton

Remote Monitoring Management: FAQ

What is remote monitoring and management (RMM)?

RMM software provides IT professionals with tools to monitor and manage their entire infrastructure endpoints and networks from a central location. This includes tasks like patch management, troubleshooting network issues, device management, and automating tasks. RMM is crucial for businesses with infrastructure distributed across locations.

What are the benefits of RMM?

RMM software helps IT teams to proactively monitor the health and performance of their entire IT infrastructure from anywhere, automate essential tasks like patching and updates, and resolve issues quickly, often before end users even notice them. This increases efficiency of IT management, strengthens cybersecurity, and allows more time to optimize infrastructure.

How does remote monitoring work in Paessler PRTG?

PRTG monitors the health and status of your remote IT infrastructure using a system of remote probes that are in constant communication with a central hub – your PRTG core server. These probes can run on a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, ARM, and others.

Each probe collects data about the remote server they're assigned to and sends it to your PRTG core server in encrypted form, where you can view the data centrally. Should the performance of any server in your remote network dip below your chosen thresholds, PRTG will alert you immediately.

How does PRTG support managed service providers?

PRTG is ideal for managed service providers, offering tools to monitor it assets across multiple client networks. With features like custom dashboards, flexible alerting, and detailed reporting, MSPs can provide exceptional it support while proactively addressing potential issues. The platform simplifies network management for MSPs, enabling efficient remote access, endpoint management, and device monitoring.

Does PRTG offer scalable monitoring for growing businesses?

Yes, PRTG offers scalability for organizations of all sizes. Its flexible architecture supports growing it environments, whether you're managing on-premises networks, remote offices, or hybrid setups. With support for an expanding number of sensors and devices, PRTG ensures that businesses can monitor it infrastructure effectively as their operations grow.

What is a sensor in PRTG?

In PRTG, “sensors” are the basic monitoring elements. One sensor usually monitors one measured value in your network, for example the traffic of a switch port, the CPU load of a server, or the free space on a disk drive. On average, you need about 5-10 sensors per device or one sensor per switch port.

We asked: would you recommend PRTG? Over 95% of our customers say yes!

Paessler conducted trials in over 600 IT departments worldwide to tune its network monitoring software closer to the needs of sysadmins. The result of the survey: over 95% of the participants would recommend PRTG – or already have.
