Object Settings

Probe, group, device, and sensor pages have tabs that you can use to navigate between different options. For example, you can view your network's status, view monitoring results, or change settings.

General Settings

On the Settings tab, you can define all settings for the selected object. The available options vary depending on the kind of object that you select. See the following sections for information about the object types:

i_round_blueYou cannot open channel settings via tabs. Go to a sensor's Overview tab to edit the channel settings.

UVX Details, UVX Map, UVX Reports

If you have integrated PRTG UVexplorer with your PRTG core server, some objects have additional tabs specific to PRTG UVexplorer. These tabs are currently only available on the classic UI.

i_round_bluePRTG UVexplorer creates network topology maps via a network discovery. The application does not use credentials you configured in PRTG; instead, it discovers devices based on the IP addresses and credentials that you enter in the PRTG UVexplorer application. If the IP addresses or credentials you configure in PRTG UVexplorer differ from the ones in the PRTG web interface, there can be a mismatch between the devices that you see in each application. If PRTG UVexplorer does not find a device listed in PRTG, the corresponding UVX tabs are empty.

UVX Details

This tab is only available on a device.

On the UVX Details tab, you can see the properties of the selected device that PRTG UVexplorer identified during discovery. Use the dropdown list to switch between categories of discovered data, for example System, IP Addresses, or Interfaces.

i_round_blueThe information on this tab corresponds to the Device Properties view in the PRTG UVexplorer application.

UVX Map

This tab is available on the root group, groups, and probes.

On the UVX Map tab, you can view the network topology map of the selected object. The color behind each device reflects the status of that device in PRTG, so you can locate an alarm in the topology.

i_round_blueThe information on this tab corresponds to the Devices | Map view in the PRTG UVexplorer application.

i_square_cyanFor more information about PRTG status colors, see section Sensor States.

UVX Reports

This tab is available on the root group, groups, and probes.

On the UVX Reports tab, you can view network analysis reports that PRTG UVexplorer generates from the discovery data.

There are three categories of PRTG UVexplorer reports:

  • Reports: Shows data collected from network devices via SNMP
  • IP Reports: Shows IP address and subnet data
  • Windows Reports: Shows data collected from Windows systems

i_round_blueThe information on this tab corresponds to the Reports view in the PRTG UVexplorer application.

Notification Triggers Settings

On the Notification Triggers tab, you can set notification triggers for every object. If you use these settings for a probe, group, or device, they are inherited to all sensors on these objects. The available notification trigger options are the same for all objects.

i_square_cyanFor more information, see section Notification Triggers Settings.

Comments

On the Comments tab, you can enter free text for each object. You can use this function for documentation purposes or to leave information for other users.

History

On the History tab, all changes in the settings of an object are logged with a time stamp, the name of the user who made the change, and a message. The history log retains the last 100 entries.

i_round_blueOn some pages, you can click b_history in the page header bar to access the history of subordinate objects. This includes system administration settings and account settings, reports, libraries, and maps. For more information, see section Logs.
